Karen Dahut is an experienced public board Director and the Group Leader for Booz Allen’s largest, global business unit. Ms. Dahut leads the $4B Global Commercial and Defense Group which represents half of the firm’s annual revenue. She reports directly to the CEO and serves on the Firm’s Executive Management Committee. As the lead of this global 12,000-person organization, Ms. Dahut directs the strategy and operation of the firm’s strategic, technology, cyber and analytics solutions to both commercial clients, the department of defense, leading defense agencies and the military services.
As a C-suite executive, Ms. Dahut previously served as Booz Allen Hamilton’s Chief Innovation Officer. She imagined, built and led the firm’s $500M, 2,000-person Strategic Innovation Group (SIG). Established in 2012, the SIG builds the Firm’s business around innovative, next generation cloud, cyber, data science and digital technologies. She created game changing businesses to transform client enterprises and create new growth avenues for the Firm. In addition, she established the Firm’s Strategic Alliances program creating imaginative, exclusive relationships with top technology companies and the startup community and has placed Booz Allen at the center of the world’s innovation ecosystem.
Ms. Dahut has also led Booz Allen’s 5,500-person Analytics business, creating and delivering world class big data and AI solutions for clients across both the commercial and public sector. Before that, Ms. Dahut was the Firm’s market leader for their $1 billion US Navy business, involving staff and engagements in 25 locations worldwide. Prior to joining Booz Allen, she was an officer in the US Navy and served as the controller for the Navy’s premier biomedical research institute.
As a Director, Ms. Dahut serves on the Tech Data Corporation’s Board, a $36B technology distribution company. She is on both the Audit Committee and the Cyber and Technology Committee. During her three-year tenure, the Board governed Tech Data’s CEO transition, conducted a major transformative acquisition and oversaw the sale of the company to a PE firm.
Ms. Dahut is a celebrated and recognized public speaker and author on topics ranging from next generation technology solutions, cyber security, innovation and diversity. She is a Board Member of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum and the Northern Virginia Technology Council She received a BS degree in Finance from Mount St. Mary's University and an MS degree from the Viterbi School of Engineering, University of Southern California.
