Texas has the eighth-largest economy in the world, besting Russia, Canada, and Italy in recent GDP rankings—and people are finally noticing. The Lone Star State has long been a hub for the energy and oil sectors, but in recent years, a surge of companies have relocated to cities including Austin, Dallas, and Houston, enticed by a “pro-business” environment that promises lower taxes and fewer regulations. The Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE) was approved as a national securities exchange by the SEC last September and plans to launch later this year as an alternative to the NYSE—which also recently moved its Chicago location to Dallas. Join this panel to learn why companies, investors, and founders are bullish on Texas and whether initiatives like the TXSE represent a legitimate structural shift to the country’s business and financial dynamics—or if it’s all bull.
