Mr. Norgren is an economist, former Head of the Swedish FSA, Deputy Governor of the Swedish Central Bank, Auditor General and member of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision.
Prior to joining Promontory, he served as Auditor General at the Swedish National Audit Office from 2008 to 2015 and he served as the Director General of the Swedish Competition Authority from 2003 to 2008. He was the Director General of the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (“FSA”) from 1993 to 2002 and Deputy Governor of the Riksbank, Sweden´s Central Bank, from 1990 to 1993. He also served on the Basel Committee. He also served as President of the FATF in 2003 - 2004.
Mr. Norgren has been a member of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and President of the FATF. He has also chaired the Banking Advisory Committee to the European Commission.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Norgren worked as the head of domestic borrowing at the Swedish National Debt office and served as an economist at the Riksbank and Sweden´s Ministry of Finance. As FSA Director General, Mr. Norgren was for 10 years directly involved in the supervision of banks.
