Do I have to sign up for Festival sessions in advance?
We ask that you sign up for sessions in advance as certain types of sessions, such as workshops and mentoring, are for a limited number of attendees. Signing up for sessions will also allow you to add them to your calendar for quick access.
How do I access the Festival event?
The digital event platform, which will launch when the Festival “virtual doors” open on October 5, is where you’ll join #FCFestival. Once you are registered you can join here.
What kind of technology is required to participate in the Innovation Festival?
We have created a bespoke virtual platform featuring an easy-to-navigate virtual hub. From there you will have access to main stage sessions, from fireside chats with renowned business leaders to a lineup of first-ever virtual site visits, virtual networking and mentoring lounge to interactive workshops. These event sessions will be on familiar platforms like Vimeo and Zoom, connected via the hub.
You will need a laptop computer, desktop computer or tablet to participate.
You can also participate by smartphone, but it is not recommended.
Other requirements include an internet connection (a hardline connection is recommended for the best experience), speakers, a microphone, and a webcam either built-in or attached to your computer or mobile device.
Is the Festival being recorded?
All MainStage sessions, Forum sessions, and Virtual Visits will be recorded. We plan to record all workshops and to make those recordings available to certain passholders. One of the key differences between holding the Festival on a virtual platform and in real life is that all activity by all participants can be recorded. We may also record interactions between and among attendees in the Innovation Garden.
How can I re-watch or watch sessions I may have missed at the Festival?
The following types of sessions at the Festival will be available to watch on-demand approximately 24 hours after the session takes place the week of the event, October 5 – 9, 2020.
- Keynotes on the virtual Main Stage
- Panels on the virtual Main Stage
- Panels in the virtual Forum
- Virtual Visits
You'll be able to watch any of the recorded content your pass has access to that week! And you'll be able to do so in our bespoke virtual platform, the same place where you'll be tuning in live.
Enabling Desktop Notifications
For the optimal festival experience, we recommend you opt-in for desktop notifications. This is where our team will remind you of key sessions, meet-ups and can’t miss news!
You will receive a notification when you first go to the FCIF page that reads “We’d like to show you notifications for the latest news and updates”. Click “allow” and you will start to see notifications appear in your computer notification tray.
Is Closed Captioning available for sessions and panel discussions?
Please note that closed captioning will be added to the recordings of live sessions, which will be posted roughly 24 hours later. If your pass does not include access to recordings, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about accommodations.
What is the time zone for the Innovation Fest Virtual Event?
The official time zone for the event will be Eastern Time (EDT). Sessions added to your calendar of choice (outlook, gmail etc.) will be added in the time zone of your calendar.
What are the event hours and how is the virtual event set up?
The event kicks off every day at 9 am EDT and features a variety of content across six distinct areas. The Innovation Garden opens its doors at 10 am daily:
How do I navigate the virtual event?
When you log in to the festival you’ll land on your personal homepage. From there you can view the schedule of events, your personal event schedule and continue to build your personal agenda. From there you click the top left-hand side hamburger menu to visit the different virtual rooms (The Forum, The Main Stage, Virtual Visits, Workshops, and Creativity Lounge).
I see there is a session I would like to attend but my ticket type doesn’t allow me. What now?
When available, there are options to upgrade your ticket type by selecting the “upgrade” button and following the prompts.
Can I engage with other attendees during sessions and ask live questions?
YES! Throughout the festival, you will have the opportunity to live chat, participate in polling, and ask live questions via the chat & polling section to the right of the video player. This can be found on the following event channels -- Main Stage, The Forum, & Virtual Visits. We encourage you to submit your questions and be part of the conversation.
My favorite part of Innovation Fest is networking within the creative community. How will that happen during the virtual event?
