Applied Health: Where Technology Meets the Body

Fast Company and the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center invite you to join us for an immersive evening of conversation.

Programming will open with a discussion on the vanguard of physical health tech: tactile innovation that’s pushing the boundaries of how we interact with machines. Anna Roumiantseva, cofounder and chief product officer of Skip, will share insights on creating "movewear"—AI-powered soft robotics designed to make physical movement effortless. Joining her will be Jeremy Brown, an associate professor in the Whiting School of Engineering at Johns Hopkins University and the director of the Haptics and Medical Robotics (HAMR) lab. Brown’s work focuses on the human-robot interface, with emphasis on medical applications and prosthetics.

Next, a fireside chat will explore the next era of precision health, featuring Stephen Gillett, chairman and CEO of Verily Health (formerly Google Life Sciences). A versatile chief executive who has held senior posts at Google and Starbucks and served on the boards of Chipotle and Symantec, Gillett will unpack how Verily is marrying data science and AI with clinical research to scale hyper-personalized care.

The program will conclude with networking, including light bites and cocktails, and time to engage with leaders and peers.
